Where are you going?
Senn (Justin Long) and Mala (Evan Rachel Wood) find themselves swept into a wind tunnel.

God knows I'd love to get one of those flying machines! But well Earth gravity would not allow me enjoy such a machine if I had one, so I suppose I'll have to keep dreaming of it! And at least I'll almost like flying it when I'll go to watch the movie Battle for Terra at the local theater.

Battle for Terra Movie

The movie Terra won so many awards that it had to be picked up by a big distribution company eventually. Well, at long last, but no least, Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have acquired U.S. rights to the film according to variety (here). And in the wake of this acquisition, it seems that the animated movie is retitled as Battle for Terra. The change was not necessary, but it shall be fine.

Plan is to release the Battle for Terra movie on May 1.

Really glad that Terra is finally having a theatrical release! Congratulations to MeniThings, the production company behind Terra.

Terra First Official Trailer

The first official trailer of Terra has been released for the TriBeCa Film Festival in Manhattan. Terra features a planet on the verge of a invasion by the relics of a desperate Mankind.

Here below the first Terra Trailer:

TERRA

Us or them: decide!

The CGI animation of Terra may not be as flashy as a Pixar movie like the upcoming Wall-E. But nonetheless Menithings did a damned great job with Terra: the plot and the characters seems really interesting. I am more than impatient about seeing Terra!

Terra Interview of Director Aristomenis Tsirbas

Terra is an upcoming science-fiction CG-animated movie directed by Aristomenis Tsirbas who also cowrote the screenplay with scriptwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos. The movie Terra should be released in Autumn 2008.

Terra isn't the usual candy cartoon: with Terra there is a real plot, with strong characters. The plot of Terra even pose some difficult philosophical questions, requiring the characters and the audience to make tough ethical decisions.

Watch the interview of Director Aristomenis Tsirbas to better understand:

Interview of Director Aristomenis Tsirbas by Anastasia from Your Greek News
during the last Toronto International Film Festival.

The Plot:
"Mala (Evan Rachel Wood) is a young alien girl living a peaceful village life on the planet Terra when a strange ship appears in the sky. The alien creatures are perplexed by the sky ship’s presence, until a squadron of attack cruisers violently abduct a number of villagers. Running to escape an attacking vessel, Mala tricks the pilot into crash landing and investigates the wreck, finding a strange injured creature.
After rescuing the creature, Mala learns that its name is Jim (Luke Wilson), a human from the planet Earth. She nurses the injured human back to health and in return Jim guarantees her abducted grandfather’s safety. As Jim and Mala’s friendship grows, so do the difficulties they face in their warring communities. The survival of their respective races rests on their shoulders, and the decisions they make will decide the fate of the planet named Terra." (Source: Exclaim)

In Terra the world isn't black or white: it's a mix of both like in real life. And that's what makes this movie so interesting: it stands out of the crowd of candy cartoons...
I think that bringing one's children to this movie is a real good idea. Children will not only be entertained but also they will be educated, to a certain extent.

Battle for TerraBATTLE FOR TERRA

Their World is mankind's only hope for survival.

Usually in science-fiction movies Earth is invaded by aliens. But Battle for Terra reverses the usual roles: Humans are invading an alien planet. I'm wondering: does Terra have a TV show like the X-Files?

Even if Terra won't be a movie as popular as Wall-E from Disney Pixar or Kung Fu Panda from Dreamworks, one can but recognize that the studio behind this movie has done a great job: those pictures look indeed quite promising.
